A Beginner’s Guide to The Nail Polish Basics

Your Nails Are a Reflection of Yourself.

It is a well-accepted fact that nail polish makes your hands look good. It adds colour to your look and compliments your outfit. There are plenty of shades available in the market. Experimenting with different shades can be fun. But even the best shade from the best brand will look shabby if it is not applied properly. It will take some practice to perfect the art of nail polish application. Here we will give you some tips to help you to apply nail polish correctly.

DIY Healthy Natural Nail Care Routine at Home
  • Clean your Hands and Nails

Nail polish won’t stick to dirty nails. First, cut your nails and file them properly. Then, remove all traces of old polish by applying a nail polish remover. Even if you don’t have old nail polish on your hands, it is good to clean your nails with nail polish remover. It removes any dust or excess oil on your nails and gives a clean surface for your new polish.

Spread your hands on a clean tissue or paper towel so that you do not stain the surface. Next, choose a hard surface like a table. This will keep your hands steady.

  • The Base

Apply a clear base coat on your nails. This will increase the lifespan of your nail polish. Let the base coat dry properly. Avoid the temptation to shake your nail polish bottle. Shaking the bottle may lead to bubble formation inside the bottle, affecting the finish of your nail paint. Instead, roll the bottle between your palms for half a minute to mix the colour inside the bottle.

  • Applying Color

You get the best finish when your nail polish brush holds the perfect amount of nail paint. Excess paint in the brush will give you a thick finish. To prevent this problem, wipe the brush on the inside of the nail polish bottle. Put a drop of the nail paint in the centre of your nails at the bottom near the cuticle. Then dip the brush in this drop and draw three straight lines with a steady hand. The lines and polish should cover your entire nails. Wait for some time for the coat to dry properly. Then apply another coat in the same manner.

  • Final Touch

Apply a clear topcoat after you have finished painting your nails. This will retain the shine of your polish and prevent your colour from wearing out quickly.
