Conditioner, Leave in Conditioner & Hair Mask Explained
There are plenty of hair care products available in the market. These include shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, and hair masks. All these products are meant to protect the hair and improve its texture and feel. But do you know the difference between conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and hair mask?
Conditioner
A conditioner as the name suggests is used to condition your hair and protect it from heat, pollutants, and the weather. Conditioners penetrate the hair cuticle. They contain moisturizing agents.
You should wash off the conditioner after a couple of minutes. They make the hair heavy and can cause problems like itching if they remain on the hair for a longer period. You should apply the conditioner through the length of your hair. Do not apply them to the scalp as they can cause irritation.
Conditioners reduce frizz and make your hair more manageable. They also improve the texture and look of your hair. They nullify any dryness and damage caused by the chemicals in your shampoo. Conditioners have a heavy consistency as they are oil-based.
Leave-in Conditioner
Leave-in conditioners are meant to be left in the hair. They should not be rinsed away. They stay on the hair and do the job of protecting the hair. The leave-in conditioner provides your hair with moisture between shampoos.
A leave-in conditioner is more water-based. It is extremely light on the hair. There are leave-in conditioners suitable for both wet and dry hair. Those with dry and damaged hair benefit the most from using leave-in conditioners. Leave-in conditioner detangles and softens hair. This makes the job of hairstylist very easy. It also adds shine to dull hair. It protects your hair from the heat caused by styling products. It is thinner in consistency as compared to conditioners.
Hair Mask
The hair mask is a stronger variety of haircare products. Hari masks are available for specific problems like dryness, dandruff, hair loss, etc. Women with dry and damaged hair will need the nourishment provided by hair masks to strengthen their hair.
Hair masks can be made with a lot of products. They can also be made with natural products like eggs, aloe vera, bananas, etc. They contain more oil.
Hair masks make your scalp healthy, and they make your hair more strong. You can either use shampoo before using the hair mask or after using the hair mask. The mask has to be left on the hair for a longer duration. The duration depends on the type of mask. Using a conditioner after using the hair mask can seal the benefits of the hair mask. Hair masks are used weekly. People with dry or damaged hair can use them twice a week.

Conclusion
With the large variety of products in the market finding a product suitable for your hair is not going to be easy. You have to go through the trial and error method. The best routine would be shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and a weekly hair mask.
