How to Layer Hair Products?
With so many hair care products in the market, people are unaware of what products to use and how to use them. There is a right way to apply each product to make it work effectively. You can apply one, two, or five products, but you must know the order in which they are to be applied. Layering your hair products incorrectly might prevent you from reaching your desired hairdo. After washing and conditioning your hair, follow these steps to layer your essential hair care and styling products.
Step 1: Apply leave-in-conditioner
Apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner to damp hair after stepping out of the shower and wringing off excess water. They are designed to absorb quickly into your hair, nourish it profoundly, make repairs, and loosen knots. To avoid breakage and tugging, use a wide-toothed shampoo comb to evenly distribute the conditioner in your hair. If you have fine hairs, apply more product on your ends than your roots. This product gives dehydrated hair a boost of hydration.
Step 2: Apply serum or mousse (foam)
It’s time to use a serum or mousse now. These products help to improve the appearance and texture of your hair. These are lightweight. A mousse and serum can do great for dry and frizzy hair. Apply the product to your roots for extra lift. To add volume, you can apply the product all the way to the end.
Step3: Apply heat protectant spray
Apply a heat protectant spray after your mousse and spray. If you’re air-drying your hair, wait until it’s completely dry before spraying it. If you’re blow-drying your hair, apply the spray while they’re still damp. Allow five minutes for the heat protectant spray to dry on your hair before using your hot tools to avoid it fizzing out. If you are not using a hot tool, you can skip this step.
Step 4: Apply Styling or texturizing creams
It’s time to use the heavier items in your routine once your hair is dry. Apply a styling cream. They nourish and moisturize the hair and combat frizz. Next, apply styling creams from the mid-shaft to the ends. It holds and adds volume to your hairstyle.
Step 5: Apply oils
While this step isn’t necessary for everyone, gel seals in the moisture from the leave-in conditioner and styling creams, making it ideal for curly textures. It also adds definition to curls by preventing hair strands from extending and becoming frizzy. If needed, apply oil after the gel to add shine and reduce frizz.
Step 6: Apply sprays
Finishing sprays or pomades are used to lock in the style you have achieved. Start with a tiny amount and gradually increase as needed. Too much might make your hair crunchy and tough.
