How To Choose The Best Makeup For Acne Prone Skins?

Acne-prone skin is a skin type that may be an inflammatory type or a non-inflammatory type. For inflammatory-type acne-prone skin, the appearance of the skin is red and robust, having pimples, papules, and pustules. This may range to the more severe form called cysts and nodules. The non-inflammatory acne-prone skin is the one that has clogged pores leading to whiteheads and blackheads.

So people who have acne-prone skin have difficulties in choosing which makeup products are suited for their skin. Both men and women may face this problem.

Choosing Makeup For Acne-Prone Skin

Choosing makeup is hard, but looking for makeup to suit acne-prone skin is a challenge. This is because everyone who has acne has their own set of sensitivities. The key to finding makeup suited for acne-prone skin is to use makeup products labeled as non-comedogenic. Non-comedogenic makeup products do not clog the pores, nor do they cause the occurrence of breakout and redness.

1. Foundations: When looking for foundations to wear, always look for ones that are lighter in texture and water-based. Avoid those that are heavy and thicker in consistency as they block the pores present.

2. Concealers: For acne-prone skin, it is recommended that concealers are not used as they are thicker in texture. They can only be under the eyes and should not be applied to acne and acne marks. The less product is applied, the more the skin will heal.

3. Blushes and Bronzers: Both blushes and bronzers come in cream and powder formulas. To save your skin from breaking out, more cream blushes and bronzers should be avoided and replaced by powder blushes and bronzers.

4. Removing excess oil: Instead of using and layering the face with a setting or compact powders, it is better if blotting papers are used and excess oil is removed from the face in the middle of the day.

5. Take off the makeup before going to bed: The key to maintaining your skin and avoiding future breakouts, you should remove your makeup before you call it a day. The face should be washed using a salicylic acid-containing facewash.

6. Sunscreen: The most crucial part of acne-prone skin is the regular use of sunscreen whenever you go out. Sunscreen helps prevent breakouts, protects from the sun, and has antioxidants that ease the skin.

Harmful ingredients: There are present in some makeup ingredients are harmful to acne-prone skin, which include fragrances, butter, essential and other heavy oils, and preservatives. Silicone products are also undesirable for acne-prone skin as it is occlusive to the skin. Some examples of ingredients that are harmful are mineral oils, parabens, Quaternium-15, and DMDM hydantoin
